Elementary Reporting

Elementary schools report formally to parents/guardians at designated times during the school year.

Elementary Progress Report

A progress report, issued in the fall between October 20 and November 20, shows a student's development of learning skills; work habits; and general progress of the curriculum expectations in all subjects. No marks are assigned. The progress report supports teachers in using assessment for learning and assessment as learning. Visit Assessment and Evaluation for further information.

Kindergarten Conference Record

A Kindergarten Conference Record is issued in the fall between October 20 and November 20. The Kindergarten Conference Record indicates a student's development in five learning areas with greatest emphasis on personal and social development.

Alternative Progress Report

Alternative programs may use an alternative progress report. Teachers should indicate a student's progress relative to the expectations in the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Schools may use an alternative progress report and attach the Provincial Elementary Progress Report Card to the back of the parent/guardian's copy.

Elementary Report Cards

Provincial report cards are issued twice a year. The first report (for students in grade one to eight), issued between January 20 and February 20, reflects a student's achievement of curriculum expectations introduced and developed from September to January/February and the evaluation of learning skills and work habits.

The second report towards the end of June reflects a student's achievement of curriculum expectations introduced or further developed from January/February to June and the evaluation of learning skills and work habits.

Kindergarten Report Cards

Kindergarten report cards are issued twice a year and reflect a student's progress in five areas of learning.

Alternative Report Cards

Alternative programs will report on IEP expectations each reporting period. Schools may use the alternative report card and attach the Provincial form to the back of the parent/guardian's copy. Revisions to the IEP expectations follow each reporting period.
