Join the RCDSB Board of Trustees!

Trustees are elected to a four-year term (2026–2030) and provide essential leadership in public education.

Key Election Dates for 2026

  • Nomination Period Begins: Friday, May 1, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

  • Nomination Day (Deadline): Friday, August 21, 2026, by 2:00 p.m.

  • Voting Period: Friday, October 16, 2026, to Monday, October 26, 2026

  • Election Day: Monday, October 26, 2026

  • Term of Office Begins: November 15, 2026

 


 

Trustee Roles and Duties

  • Collaborative Leadership: Trustees work together in the best interests of RCDSB students; no individual has decision-making authority without their colleagues.

  • Regular Meetings: Trustees attend monthly Board meetings (on the fourth Tuesday) and Committee of the Whole meetings (on the second Tuesday). The meetings start at 4:00 PM.

  • Students and Families' Voice: Trustees are expected to bring feedback from students and families in their respective geographic areas to the Board as a whole.

  • Conduct: Trustees must comply with the RCDSB Code of Conduct. 

Geographical Boundaries (8 Trustees)

The RCDSB continues to represent the following areas:

  1. The Town of Arnprior and McNab-Braeside Township;

  2. The Town of Renfrew, Greater Madawaska Township, and Horton Township;

  3. Bonnechere Valley, Killaloe, Hagarty andRichards, Madawaska Valley, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan, and South Algonquin Townships;

  4. Whitewater Region and Admaston/Bromley Townships;

  5. The City of Pembroke;

  6. Laurentian Valley and North Algona-Wilberforce Townships;

  7. The Town of Petawawa and Garrison Petawawa;

  8. The Town of Deep River, Laurentian Hills, and Head, Clara and Maria Township.


 


 

Qualifications & Disqualifications

To run, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old, and a resident in the area of jurisdiction.

You are disqualified if you are:

  • A current RCDSB employee. 

  • A Clerk, Treasurer, Deputy Clerk, or Deputy Treasurer of a municipality within the RCDSB jurisdiction.

  • A member of the Provincial Assembly, Federal Senate, or House of Commons.

  • An inmate in a correctional institution.

An RCDSB Trustee:

  • Holds a position of trust or responsibility for the benefit of another;

  • Is a voice for students, families, and all taxpayers of publicly funded education;

  • Works collaboratively for the benefit of all RCDSB students;

  • Maintains a focus on student achievement and well-being
