Trustees are elected to a four-year term (2026–2030) and provide essential leadership in public education.
Key Election Dates for 2026

Nomination Period Begins: Friday, May 1, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

Nomination Day (Deadline): Friday, August 21, 2026, by 2:00 p.m.

Voting Period: Friday, October 16, 2026, to Monday, October 26, 2026

Election Day: Monday, October 26, 2026

Term of Office Begins: November 15, 2026
Trustee Roles and Duties
-
Collaborative Leadership: Trustees work together in the best interests of RCDSB students; no individual has decision-making authority without their colleagues.

Regular Meetings: Trustees attend monthly Board meetings (on the fourth Tuesday) and Committee of the Whole meetings (on the second Tuesday). The meetings start at 4:00 PM.

Students and Families' Voice: Trustees are expected to bring feedback from students and families in their respective geographic areas to the Board as a whole.

Conduct: Trustees must comply with the RCDSB Code of Conduct.
Geographical Boundaries (8 Trustees)
The RCDSB continues to represent the following areas:

The Town of Arnprior and McNab-Braeside Township;

The Town of Renfrew, Greater Madawaska Township, and Horton Township;

Bonnechere Valley, Killaloe, Hagarty andRichards, Madawaska Valley, Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan, and South Algonquin Townships;

Whitewater Region and Admaston/Bromley Townships;
-
The City of Pembroke;
-
Laurentian Valley and North Algona-Wilberforce Townships;
-
The Town of Petawawa and Garrison Petawawa;
-
The Town of Deep River, Laurentian Hills, and Head, Clara and Maria Township.
Qualifications & Disqualifications
To run, you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old, and a resident in the area of jurisdiction.
You are disqualified if you are:

A current RCDSB employee.
-
A Clerk, Treasurer, Deputy Clerk, or Deputy Treasurer of a municipality within the RCDSB jurisdiction.

A member of the Provincial Assembly, Federal Senate, or House of Commons.
-
An inmate in a correctional institution.
An RCDSB Trustee:
-
Holds a position of trust or responsibility for the benefit of another;
-
Is a voice for students, families, and all taxpayers of publicly funded education;

Works collaboratively for the benefit of all RCDSB students;

Maintains a focus on student achievement and well-being
