Each February, the Renfrew County District School Board joins the national celebration of Black History Month. This year marks a significant milestone as it is the 30th anniversary of the month’s official observance in Canada. Under the 2026 theme, "30 Years of Black History Month: Honouring Black Brilliance Across Generations from Nation Builders to Tomorrow’s Visionaries," we recognize the immense contributions and lasting legacy of Black Canadians.
Black History Month is a time to celebrate the achievements of Black Canadians, honour their stories, and reflect on our shared history.
While February provides a focused opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Black History Month, RCDSB is committed to honouring Black brilliance, history, and culture throughout the entire school year.
By honouring the stories of the past and the visionaries of the future, we continue our work to foster a culture of belonging and excellence for every student. RCDSB is committed to creating learning environments where all RCDSB students, staff and community members feel safe, included, affirmed and respected.
