Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)

The Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) is a specialized program that allows secondary school students to explore careers in the skilled trades, usually starting in Grade 11 or 12. Students can gain valuable experience by working in a skilled trade, potentially even becoming registered apprentices while completing their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

The goal of OYAP in the RCDSB is to provide students with opportunities to explore a career in the skilled trades and, if selected, transition from school to work with a direct entry into apprenticeship training. Some students may also be eligible for a Dual Credit program, which may allow them to complete their Level 1 apprenticeship training at a College or another Training Delivery Agent, while still enrolled in secondary school.
